FREE Anti-Domestic Violence Conference
FREE Anti-Domestic Violence Conference on June 4&5, 2010, at A Place of Restoration, 7636 Margate Blvd., Fl 33063. We have many professional community leaders confirmed to speak. The Women In Distress DV Shelter will be there to give info and speak to the conference participants.
Inter American Institute of Massage Therapy will bring their students to the conference to provide chair massages, facials, manicures, makeup and hair styling to the attendees.
Volunteer nurses will provide FREE blood pressure and blood sugar checks
We are making this conference FREE because we want all members of the community to attend, victims, abusers, survivors, and the people who suport them. We also want anyone who is clueless to what DV is to attend, especially highschoolers and young adults. The churches are doing their part but the people who do not go to church are not getting the messages. We would like this conference to help get the mesaages out there so we can see and hear about some changes.
The aim of the conference is to provide information and education so that those who are living it can know what it is, those who have no clue can learn how to identify it to avoid being trappend in abusive cycles and to help abusers to recognize the destructive nature of their behavior and try for change and also to provide empowerment to survivors by introducing them to services that cna help them find their way back to normalcy and give general empowermrnt to everyone in the community. We want everyone even children to realize that DV is not OK.
We will also have follow up FREE seminars with Kate Johnson, a leading counselor/educator in the field of DV.
