    • Imagine, you are a singer and you accompany yourself on the piano. You have a small dog who is your constant companion and watches as you rehearse. Got the picture?

Now, imagine that you must be away for a few hours and leave the dog alone at home.

Here is what happened while you were away...

    • Written on the wall in Mother Teresa's home for children in Calcutta

    • Friday, October 21, 2011
    • Everytime i read this poem on the air I get sooooo many calls! So I thought i would post it here for you today...

People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway.

What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway.

Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway.

In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway. -this version is credited to Mother Teresa

    • Reborn Dolls

    • Tuesday, August 02, 2011
    • So the police in England received reports of a baby trapped in a car, they rushed to the scene, broke out one of the car's windows and freed the baby. Oh wait.... freed the DOLL. Yes it was a doll.... " A REBORN DOLL". Wow... how lifelike these dolls look. They even have anatomically correct veins. Police caused about $300.00 in damage to the car in order to save "Sam" the reborn doll that the mother-of-three Victoria had bought for her daughter's birthday. Dolls have come a long way since my daughter had them.

Check out these "reborn dolls". : )

    • Florida band named Fakahatche

    • Thursday, July 28, 2011
    • As you may know.... I play our National Anthem Monday thru Friday at noon for our troops overseas and here at home.   Never forget them and keep them in your prayers as well as their families who are sacrificing too.

Here is a song by an unsigned Florida band named "Fakahatche".   It's called the "Sunshine State".  Give it a listen.... it just may touch your heart.   At the very least ... remind you that there are men and women who would love to be in your shoes and be home.

Thanks to my friend Billy for sending it my way.   : )

Noooooo..... there was no cleaning up the dead cattails that day.   The water is low up at Lake O.  Almost as low as the lake was a couple years ago.   Poor critters don't have as much water to swim in.   Fishing is really good tho'.

    • Exposing repair scams!

    • Monday, May 16, 2011
    • While waiting for our Miami Heat to play Chicago last night in the playoffs, I watched Dateline NBC with Chris Hansen. He was exposing repair scams. UHHH How these people can sleep at night knowing full good and well THEY JUST RIPPED SOMEONE OFF. A common mistake by a repairman in understandable, however these guys were intentionally ripping em off. TERRIBLE. Wish this could be a regular feature on NBC, Maybe some of this scamming would stop.

    • Mark Wills - Looking for America

    • Thursday, February 24, 2011
    • Yesterday, at the grocery store, I noticed two mothers telling their children, in one way or another, we can't afford to buy that today. Boy, do I feel their pain. Seems as though things are getting sooo expensive. We have to work so much harder to make ends meet. Lots of families have really cut back. People have lost their jobs. Lots of those jobs are being replaced by technology. No more customer service.

Anyway, when I got home, putting away the groceries, my daughter had GAC on. This video was playing. I stopped what I was doing, flopped on the couch and it really hit me. Times they are a changin'.

We do have to count our blessings. I do believe we need to pray for the good ole USA. God Bless America.

Check out this video..... Mark Wills "Looking for America" xo dar

    • Online video contest

    • Friday, February 18, 2011
    • Here's something that might be fun for you to work on this weekend.

Maybe you have seen the GE commercial where people from all walks of life are line dancing around the world to Alan Jackson's song "Good Time". Reminds me of the old Coca Cola commecial where everyone is holding hands. : )

Anyway... GE is now launching an online video contest in conjunction with the same concept. They want us to submit our own home videos of the line dance moves as seen in the ecomagination TV commercial. Their goal is to make history with the world's longest line dance online. : )

All videos submitted will help GE donate 20 years of clean, safe drinking water to people in developing nations.

For the next two months, you may also vote for your favorite video. The best line dance video, selected by GE, will win a GE ecomagination Home Appliance Makeover with up to $10,000 of eco-friendly GE appliances.

Thought it might be fun. Would love to see some videos from our "Kiss Country Family" : )

    • Brandon Green

    • Thursday, February 17, 2011
    • I told you a while back Keith Urban got together with Guitar Center's Your Next Record Unsigned Artist Competition. Well.... 6000 people auditioned. Keith said... It was extraordinary to hear so many gifted artists submit their creations to this project. It was not an easy task narrowing it down.

I just love these kinds of competitions, giving people a chance at their dream. The winner was Brandon Green with his song "Love Lovin' You". That means that Brandon will record a three song EP with producer Dan Huff and receive $20,000 in music gear AND KEITH WILL SING ON HIS SINGLE. : )) Can you imagine? Brandon will also get an opening slot on one of Keith's tour dates.

Brandon was on American Idol, Season 7. So this is his 2nd shot at his dream.

Until his single is completed with Keith Urban, thought you might like to see his audition for Americal Idol. Love his voice but the fingernail story made me smile. God is Great. Beer is Good and PEOPLE ARE CRAZY! : )))

Georgeous dog, owner not too shabby either. ; )

    • Another Chili Cookoff!

    • Tuesday, February 01, 2011
    • Ahhh.... chili cookoff is over... so many pictures to go through. : 0 Every year at the Chili Cookoff, I learn something new it seems. Eric Brandon and I were on stage, fixin' to introduce Little Big Town, when Eric said, "What is that under the drummers seat". I said, "Hmmm .... I've never seen that before". Naturally, I had to ask. : ) It's a "thumper". A low end "feel machine" that attaches directly under the drummers seat. It's powered by a 200 watt amp that vibrates the seat in perfect sync with the drums and the bass player too.

Course I wanted to try it out but, I didn't think the Chili Cookoff was a good time to ask. One day I will. : )

Drummers gotta feel their drums .... and their band too. : )

Who are we gonna get next year and what will I learn.

    • Pay attention lady!

    • Thursday, January 20, 2011
    • This video is the big talk of the day. This lady was busy texting and fell into the fountain. I understand she has hired an attorney and is thinking of suing the mall. She was humiliated and the video is now being seen by millions.

I laugh because, I remember walking into a tree while window shopping. lol... I remember being so embarrassed. Teenagers laughed and lol .... so did I. : )

Some of us need to lighten up. It's a funny memory. Come on... she didn't get hurt. : )

    • Preview of Martina McBride for Chili

    • Wednesday, January 19, 2011
    • Chili Cookoff is right around the corner.... startin' to get excited. : 0 Martina McBride is our headliner this year, some say she is the Celine Dion of country music. She has won Female vocalist of the year four times. What a voice! Like Faith Hill said at one of the award shows "Martina, Girl your voice just blows me away. "

For video jukebox, I decided to post the video for her song "Anyway" When I first heard this song, I wondered if she got the idea from one of Mother Teresa's favorite poems, written by Kent Keith, call "The Paradoxical Commandments. Sure enough she did.

Basically the song says, whatever gets you down in life, don't give up, do it anyway.

People are often unreasonable, illogical and self centered; Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives; Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies; Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you; Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight; Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous; Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow; Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough; Give the world the best you've got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and your God; It was never between you and them anyway.

I love this song. CLICK HERE TO SEE THE VIDEO

Let it be a blessing to us! See ya at Chili Cookoff.

    • Every now & then you just fall in love with a horse

    • Wednesday, November 03, 2010
    • (Picture taken by Reed Palmer Photography)

Zenyatta.... a Kentucky born girl.... racing this weekend in The Breeders Cup Classic at Churchill Downs. She was purchased for $60.000, because she suffered a form of ringworm, since then she has won purses totaling over six million dollars. Zenyatta hasn't lost a race yet.

She is quite a lady.... what a personality....she has a pre-race dance, exaggerating her stride with her front legs as she walks, to resemble a goose-step. She has been known to bow when her name is mentioned. She poses for photographers. Zenyatta can be very affectionate. Her groomer says she licks his face so much sometimes it's hard for him to tend to her. ESPN analyst Randy Moss calls her "the greatest female horse ever".

Her racing career will end after this race and she will be "makin' babies". Good Luck Saturday at 6:45p.m. girl. i'm sure you'll have a Guinness after. ; )

Here are some videos of Zenyatta.

    • Service Dog

    • Wednesday, June 16, 2010
    • When i saw the video about this service dog it reminded me of our Cody. i agreed to raise Cody to be a service dog for the organization Paws with a Cause. When the year was up he was to go on his way to Michigan for further training. Before he could go he had to have his hips checked. Cody's hips did not pass the test so he was rejected. The folks at Paws with a Cause told me they would look for a home for him. Needless to say, i told them he had a home.

Unfortunately, for what ever reason, some dogs don't make the program. The service dogs that do, make such a difference in the lives of their owners.

Here's a picture of my husband, Cody and me, taken at Walk for the Animals.

Check out this video of the SURFice dog. Yep.... it made me cry.

Of course a "Happy Cry"!! Thanks for listenin' online at WKIS.COM or on the radio at 99.9 Kiss Country.

    • Thursday, May 13, 2010
    • Happy B-day Lari White!

Lari studied vocals and music engineering at the University of Miami Frost School of Music. She started writing and performing in clubs. Lari entered, "You can be a Star" contest back in 1988 and won first place, which won her a recording contract with Capitol Records.

Long story short, in 1992, she signed with RCA. Her second album, "Wishes" produced three top 10 hits.

You might not know... Lari became the first woman to produce an album by a major male star. She co-produced Toby Keith's album, "White Trash with money".

Here's a blast from the past..... Lari White.... That's my baby!
    • Tennessee floods hit hard

    • Friday, May 07, 2010
    • Lots of us country fans have our eyes on the flood situation in Nashville . Those of us who went through Hurricane Andrew have such empathy for them as we really know what devastation is.

Julie Roberts lost basically everything she owns. Brad Paisley was among the hundreds of musicians whose instruments and equipment were underwater at Nashville's Soundstage rehearsal and storage facility.

As with all disasters, we Americans always step up to the plate and help out. Reba, who is a member of the American Red Cross, has donated $100,000 to the Nashville Area Red Cross. Text 90999 to make a $10.00 donation.

The Country Music Association is donating 50% of the net proceeds from the 2010 CMA Music Festival to the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee's flood relief efforts.

Kenny Chesney called in to Anderson Cooper's show on Wed. 5/5 and shared some footage. i thought you might want to see.

Thanks for keepin' it country and lets pray for those folks in Tennessee.

    • i've gotta tell you.....

A week ago this past Sunday, someone went into my car in the parking lot of the grocery store and stole my red bag that was on the floor behind the driver's seat. In that bag was my soul... MY BIBLE!!! i am still sooo sad. Maybe you are like me... when i read my bible i highlight and write in it. i can only hope that in these weeks before Easter, the person who stole it, reads it. My husband bought me a new bible, which does have LARGER PRINT. : ) Just gotta start markin' it up as the Holy Spirit speaks. i just had to tell you. Thanks for listenin' during your work day. i just love playing country music for you. : )

Now... What was on the top of the charts in 1985 on this very day????

    • Happy Birthday Paul Overstreet!!!!!!

    • Thursday, March 18, 2010
    • Paul Overstreet is the big 55 today. i could go on and on... i love this guy!!! Paul is one of those songwriters who's songs promote marriage and family. i used to listen to his albums when my kids were little. Course his own music is not heard on the radio : ( however... lots of the songs he wrote are.

When you say nothing at all
      Some Beach
      She thinks my tractors sexy
      Love can build a bridge
      Forever and ever amen

Those are just a few of the songs Paul has written. i would love to have you listen to Heroes, but since i can just pick one for today, it would be "Seein' my Father in me." This was a hit on the country charts and the christian music charts.

We are a chip off the ole block.... and God the Father too. : ) dar

    • HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICKEY GILLEY!!!

    • Tuesday, March 09, 2010
    • Yep... Back in 1936 this Mississippi man was born. Mickey bought a club in Pasadena in 1970 called Gilley's. Gilley's was the club used in the movie "Urban Cowboy". Mickey's career was hot back then, "Stand by Me" was one of the songs in the movie. Love that song. However... my favorite Mickey Gilley song is.... That's all that matters to me. #1 in 1984.

    • Reba's Greatest Hits

    • Thursday, March 04, 2010
    • Back in 1994, this was a pretty special day for Reba McEntire. Her Greatest Hits Volume 2 became her 5th "Double Platinum Album".

For those of you who don't know what that means....

      Here's your lesson....

The RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) are the folks that protect the rights of songwriters and artists in the recording industry. They give out an award based on the number of albums and singles sold. Of course, the award is not given automatically. The record label must request certification and pay a fee to have an audit conducted of the sales of that recording. Lots of times it is done by the artist's royalty statement.

So now... a Gold Record... (yes... some of us still call em records) oops

Basically...Gold Award is more than 500,001 sales
Platinum Award is between 1,000,001 and 1,999.999
Multi-Platinum Award is between 2 million and 10 million
Diamond Award is between 10 and 20 million
Multi-Diamond Award is over 20 million

Back to Reba's Greatest Hits Album. It had 22 singles on it. One of them being "Does He Love You" a duet she sang with Linda Davis. The song hit #1 and won a Grammy Award too. (Linda Davis is Hillary of Lady Antebellum's mom).

Thought you might like to hear it.... WHAT VOICES!!!!!

    • I admit it...i am an addict... an ORCHID ADDICT

    • Tuesday, March 02, 2010
    • i was first introduced to orchids about 4 years ago. My wonderful husband, who knew i loved to garden, bought me my first one for Valentines day. Now i am going to orchid shows and i will admit, i have a hard time even in Home Depot. : )

The yearly show was this past weekend. YES.... i TOOK A BUNCH OF PICTURES!!! i had to budget myself at this one, because of our family fund situation. i admit i went a bit over budget, but gosh it felt great. This morning i got up and they made me smile.

i believe God put orchids on this earth to teach us patience. We have to learn to wait. Lots of times the payoff is outstanding. Maybe you should go buy an orchid. i can't promise you wont become and addict. : ) dar

fyi.... someone offered the owner of the "grand champion" $10,000.00 for that plant at the show.

    • Duckfest Derby

    • Monday, March 01, 2010
    • Saturday was the Duck Fest Derby at Esplanade Park in Downtown Fort Lauderdale. People adopted a duck for the day at $5.00 a duck. The first 30 ducks at the finish line won prizes. 20,000 ducks floated down the New River with proceeds going to Kids in Distress. Kids in Distress is a great organization here in our community that benefits 6500 vulnerable children and families in South Florida.

Thanks to everyone who participated. We will see ya again next year. Thanks to all the foster moms and dads, y'all are AWESOME. : ) dar

It was this time in 1997 when LeAnn Rimes won two trophies during the 39th annual Grammy Awards at New York's Madison Square Garden for "Blue". LeAnn won Best New Artist and Best Female Country Vocal Performance.

Peace River is two miles west of Arcadia Florida. If you are in for a little camping and canoeing, fossil hunting, etc. , this is one of our favorites. Family friendly, pet friendly, group friendly. A piece of Florida from days past. Towering cypress trees with moss beards. Beautiful birds and wildlife.

I Don't Want To Miss a Thing - Mark Chesnutt (Aerosmith too)

    • Recognizing a stroke

    • Wednesday, February 10, 2010
    • STROKE: Remember the 1st Three Letters..... S. T. R.

      STROKE IDENTIFICATION:

During a BBQ, a woman stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics), she said she had just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes.

They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food. While she appeared a bit shaken up, Jane went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening.

Jane's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital, and at 6:00 pm Jane passed away. She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Jane would be alive today. Some don't die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.

It only takes a minute to read this...

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

      RECOGNIZING A STROKE

Read and Learn these 3 steps:

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions.

S *Ask the individual to SMILE. T *Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (coherently). (i.e. It is sunny out today.) R *Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call 911immediatelyand describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

New Sign of a Stroke --- Stick out Your Tongue

NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out his tongue. If the tongue is 'crooked,' if it goes to one side or the other, that is also an indication of a stroke.

    • Transparent Buterfly

    • Friday, January 29, 2010

    • It comes from Central America and is found from Mexico to Panama . It is quite common in its zone, but its not easy to find because of its transparent wings, which is a natural camouflage mechanism.

A butterfly with transparent wings is rare and beautiful. As delicate as finely blown glass, the presence of this rare tropical gem is used by rain forest ecologists as an indication of high habitat quality and its demise alerts them of ecological change. Rivaling the refined beauty of a stained glass window, the translucent wings of the Glasswing butterfly shimmer in the sunlight like polished panes of turquoise, orange, green, and red.

All things beautiful do not have to be full of color to be noticed...In life that which is unnoticed has the most power.
    • The Economy is so bad...This is pretty funny!

    • Thursday, January 28, 2010
    • The economy is so bad that:

I got a pre-declined credit card in the mail.

When I ordered a burger at McDonald's and the kid behind the counter asked, "Can you afford fries with that?"

CEO's are now playing miniature golf.

If the bank returns your check marked "Insufficient Funds," you call them and ask if they meant you or them.

Hot Wheels and Matchbox stocks are trading higher than GM.

McDonald's is now selling the 1/4 ouncer.

Parents in Beverly Hills fired their nannies and learned their children's names.

A truckload of Americans was caught sneaking into Mexico .

Dick Cheney took his stockbroker hunting.

Motel Six won't leave the light on anymore.

The Mafia is laying off judges and Exxon-Mobil laid off 25 Congressmen.

Congress says they are looking into this Bernard Madoff scandal.

Oh Great!! The guy who made $50 Billion disappear is being investigated by the people who made $1.5 Trillion disappear!

      And, finally...

I was so depressed last night thinking about the economy, wars, jobs, my savings, Social Security, retirement funds, etc., I called the Suicide Lifeline. I got a call center in Pakistan , and when I told them I was suicidal, they got all excited, and asked if I could drive a truck.

    • Sex with a Cowboy

    • Thursday, October 08, 2009
    • THIS IS A VERY FUNNY JOKE: Prior to her trip to Texas, Buffy (a blonde New Yorker), confided to her co-workers she had three goals for her trip to the Lone Star State: 1. She wanted to taste some real Texas Bar-B-Que. 2. She wanted to take in a bona fide rodeo. And.. 3. She wanted to have sex with a real cowboy . Upon returning, the girls were curious as to how she fared. 'Let me tell you, they have a tree down there called a Mesquite and when they slow cook that brisket over that Mesquite, it's ooooh so good. The taste is unbelievable! ' 'And I went to a real rodeo. Talk about athletes... Those guys wrestle full grown bulls! They ride horses at a full gallop, then jump off the horses and grab the bull by the horns and throw them to the ground! It is just incredible!' They then asked, 'Well tell us, did you have sex with a real cowboy?' 'Are you kidding? When I saw the outline of the condom they carry in the back pocket of their jeans, I changed my mind!' In God We Trust

    • Why I play the National Anthem

    • Thursday, October 08, 2009

    • Often times I am asked… Why do you play the national anthem at noon.  Just to fly the flag, etc.  For a while it was taken off the air and thanks to a poll by you, 97% of you voted it back on.  I thank you for that.

My father was a Colonel in our United States Air Force.  He was Commander of twelve sites in Vietnam.  He was due to return home in one month.

To a little girl, daddy is everything.  I was sooo excited, counting the days for him to come home.

One evening my grandmother dropped me off at the house after ballet class.  I saw a lot of cars in the driveway.  As I went in the house I saw my mother sitting on the couch with two men in uniforms.  Boy… I thought daddy was home and I started to run all around the house looking for him. (We used to play hide and seek a lot).  When I finally gave up, my uncle pulled me aside.  He told me I had to be a big girl for my mommy because my daddy’s helicopter was shot down and he was killed.

After that was announced to me, I saw my brothers crying, mom crying, our whole world torn apart.  I lost my daddy forever.  It did mean that my oldest brother, who was in the Army, could come home.

I can remember in the Vietnam days, some folks were not so kind to the military.  I remember thinking, I lost my daddy, he was doing his job, he loved this country and served it with his every being, and you don’t care.

      Well…   I care.

I thank the men and women who serve our country and I pray for the families who sacrifice.

And so, my fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.   John F. Kennedy
